Oddo Bam is a musician from Stellenbosch, South Africa, who is driven by a commitment towards creating a thoughtful and meaningful brand of music. He started performing as a solo artist in 2014 and released his first single, “Sweet Ocean”, in January 2015. A few months later he returned to the studio to record his first EP, The Snow Burial, which was released in September 2015 and features four lyrically loaded songs with an intimate living room feel.
For the past two years Oddo Bam has consistently worked at building a loyal and engaging fan base. His labour has proven successful, as he managed to raise over R60 000 through a Crowdfunding campaign aimed at funding his debut album, titled The Fox and the Furrow.
Oddo Bam and his band have since concluded the recording of The Fox and the Furrow, which was released on the 31st of October 2016. The album contains 12 tracks containing different styles, but with the common theme of a pilgrimage.
“The songs tell the story of a man who wakes up in the morning and decides to sell all he has. It’s a story full of tracks, autumn leaves, fragrant soil and birds whistling migration songs.”
In the build-up to the release of the album, Oddo Bam was recently featured on Expresso Morning Show, and has also released a music video for the first single off the album, “Winter Tree”. A lyric video for “Honeycomb” soon followed. The band is currently gearing up for a series of shows in The Western Cape and the Free-State.
